CBCT Imaging
CBCT 3D imaging technology is far superior to conventional 2D dental imaging, as it enables practitioners to visualize all dental and facial structures in three dimensions and identify potential pathologic hard tissue lesions and other abnormalities. It aids in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Advantages of 3-D Cone Beam imaging for patients:
- No pre-scan preparation needed.
- Your scan only takes 18 seconds, it's quick and painless!
- Significantly reduced radiation and greater accuracy than conventional medical CT machines.
- 3-D images rather than "flat" dental pictures to visualize "inside" skull and jaw bone.
- Infinite number of views created from one scan taken in seconds.
Digital Scans (iTero Element)
The iTero Element Scanner is a state-of-the-art digital impression system that eliminates the need for messy putty in your mouth. It allows our staff to digitally capture a detailed 3D model of your teeth and gums. Not only is this process far more comfortable than the old putty based impressions, it’s faster and can offer a superior clinical endpoint.
ORAL 3D Printer
ORAL3D enables South County Smiles to create a three-dimensional model of our patients mouths through the use of Cone Beam Imaging and Dr Cicero’s innovative 3D Printer! With this technology our patients can physically visualize hard and soft tissues defects and our surgeons can carefully plan and prepare surgeries with more precision and comfort.
This is just another way that South County Smiles is working hard to enhance oral care for our patients. Striving to achieve the best possible experience and surgical outcomes.
Dental Laser Therapy
South County Smiles is proud to offer laser dentistry, which uses cutting edge technology to provide more comfortable, precise, and efficient dental care. We use laser therapy for a variety of procedures, including:
- Crown lengthening
- Gingival (gum) resculpting
- Easing tongue and cheek attachments
- Cold sores and canker sores
- Gum disease therapy
Intra Oral Camera & Cavity Detection Device
The intra-oral camera enlarges the inside of the teeth to more than 40 times their actual size on a full color screen display. By zooming in on problem areas in affecting the teeth, dentists are capable of seeing much more than they could with the human eye alone. Furthermore, patients can see or receive printed pictures of the conditions the dentist finds to better understand suggested treatment plans.
We also use the SOPROLIFE camera which also offers auto fluorescence technology that allows us the ability to detect tooth decay at different stages of its development thus allowing us to provide the most conservative treatment.
Digital X-ray Scanner
We use Digital Radiography which allows us to take x-rays using up to 90% less radiation than conventional film x-rays. It also allows us to take an x-ray of your mouth by using a small sensor which records the image of your teeth and sends it to a computer. The result is a highly detailed image of your mouth that can easily be enhanced to better diagnose dental concerns and determine the very best treatment for each case.
