Prosthodontics is the dental specialty primarily concerned with the restoration and replacement of lost or damaged teeth. Prosthodontics take into consideration teeth, the gums, lips, and facial features in order to create a beautiful, functional and natural-looking smile in the cases of missing teeth. One solution to the situation of lost teeth is Implants.

Losing teeth can be devastating, but patients at South County Smiles don’t need to lose hope. We offer several services to resolve these issues.

Traditional Implant Protocol (TIP)

The Traditional Dental Implant Protocol (TIP) involves a series of steps; each is very different but all can be done under one roof here at South County Smiles. .

After placement the implant needs time to properly adhere to the bone and create a healthy fusion before the crown can be attached and full bite force can be applied. In most cases, it will take a few months to complete the process. In most cases, during this healing time, you will be have a temporary tooth replacement.

When the implant post fully heals and fuses with the bone, about 2-3 months after surgery, an abutment is used to secure the final dental restoration.

A dental crown, bridge, or denture can all be used in combination with a dental implant to replace missing teeth. The type of restoration used will be determined based on the number of missing teeth. AACD dentists are highly qualified to design custom restoration that look and feel like natural teeth for an aesthetic result.Dental Implants are a fantastic option for patients who have lost teeth. The Implant, combined with a beautiful porcelain crown, looks and feels just like your natural teeth. You will once again be able to enjoy perfect occlusion and a strong healthy jawbone. Unlike other restorative dentistry treatments that restore lost teeth, dental implants work like natural tooth roots. You will be able to enjoy the full benefits of a healthy, happy, smile.

Our dental implants are made from a state-of-the-art titanium alloy that fuses with your natural bone. Dental implants are small rods that serve as synthetic tooth roots. When a porcelain crown is attached to complete the Implant restoration process, the new tooth is a comprehensive dental replacement option rather than just a superficial.

Emergency Implant Protocol (EIP)

If a patient arrives at South County Smiles with a fractured or non-restorable tooth in the esthetic zone. Our surgeons are trained in the “Emergency” Implant Protocol (EIP). With this protocol, an extraction is performed, an implant placed, and a provisional restoration delivered on the SAME DAY!

This procedure can transform patients who suddenly find that they need their tooth replaced from being panic-stricken to confidently walking out with a temporary crown on the same day they sought treatment.

In addition, immediate tooth replacement minimizes treatment time as well as the total number of surgical appointments. Because the implant preserves the bone and the provisional crown helps shape the soft tissue during healing, the final restoration is both predictable and esthetic.

Implant-Site Preparation

Did you know that at South County Smiles we have a bone regeneration expert in Dr. Giuseppe Cicero! If a Sinus Lift or Bone Augmentation is required for your implant you are in the best hands with Dr. Cicero!

How do i know if I have sufficient bone? Every case of implantation is preceded by a thorough planning. This requires a CT Scan (CBCT 3-D X Ray). The surgeons at South County Smiles evaluate the results and determine in advance the probability of a bone substitution.

In some cases a sinus elevation or bone graft can be done together with the placement of dental implants saving time and treatments.
