Dr. Kelsey Akin, D.M.D., M.P.H. – General Dentist
Dr. Kelsey Akin is a warm, detail-oriented general dentist at South County Smiles, providing comprehensive, personalized care while helping patients feel comfortable and confident in the dental chair.
Dr. Akin graduated from the University of North Texas, where she studied Biology, Chemistry, and Ceramics — an early blend of art and science that continues to shape her approach to dentistry today. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Hunt School of Dental Medicine and simultaneously completed her Master of Public Health from UTHealth Houston. During her training along the U.S.–Mexico border in El Paso, she learned conversational Spanish, developed an appreciation for the region’s rich culture and incredible food, and successfully survived the desert heat — which she proudly considers her unofficial third degree.
Her public health background strengthens her commitment to preventive, community-focused dentistry. She looks beyond teeth alone, considering the whole patient — their health, goals, and overall well-being. She believes education is empowering and strives to help patients feel informed, confident, and in control of their care.
